A Geotechnical Data Technician is required to join our data management department in Norwich, to assist with ground investigation record, data, drawing and 3D model production.
Candidates should as a minimum be proficient with standard computer software, with a good knowledge of programmes including Excel, Word and ideally AutoCAD; GCSE grade C or above in subjects including Maths and English; excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and a keen interest in learning new skills. Demonstrating an attention to detail and a keen interest to learn new skills is essential. Prior knowledge of geotechnical investigation, geology and the environment is desirable, but not essential. However, an interest in these areas would help to comprehend the background to the records and drawings.
The role will involve assisting a team of geotechnical engineers from multiple offices to create borehole, trial pit and other fieldwork and monitoring records, using Excel add-ins connected to Bentley Systems’ HoleBASE SI software. The role also includes producing drawings and plans using HoleBASE SI software as well as producing detailed plans and 3D models in AutoCAD and QGIS to share with our clients.
The role could be part or full time, to be flexible regarding the days working in the office and from home. Training will be provided for specialist software (e.g. AutoCAD) where appropriate.
