Geotechnical Data Technician

Job Vacancy Details

DATE POSTED: August 5, 2022
SALARY: Negotiable plus benefits
START DATE: As soon as a suitable candidate has been found

A data management technician is required to join our geotechnical department in Norwich, to assist with ground investigation record, data, drawing and 3D model production.

Candidates should as a minimum be proficient with standard computer software, with a good knowledge of programmes including Excel, Word and ideally AutoCAD; GCSE grade C or above in subjects including Maths and English; excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and a keen interest in learning new skills.

The role will involve assisting a team of geotechnical engineers from multiple offices to create borehole, trial pit and other fieldwork and monitoring records, using Excel add-ins connected to Bentley Systems’ HoleBASE SI software. The role also includes producing drawings and plans using HoleBASE SI software as well as producing detailed plans and 3D models in AutoCAD and QGIS to share with our clients.

Demonstrating an attention to detail and a keen interest to learn new skills is essential. Prior knowledge of geotechnical investigation, geology and the environment is desirable, but not essential. However, an interest would help to comprehend the background to the records and drawings.

The role could be part or full time, to be flexible with regard to the days at work. Training will be provided for specialist software (e.g. AutoCAD) where appropriate.
