A Trainee Geotechnical Site Technician/Driller is required to join the Testing Services department in Norwich, to work on a range of site investigation projects across East Anglia and further afield. Candidates as a minimum should have numeracy and literacy to GCSE level C or equivalent. In house training will be provided, with the potential opportunity to progress to an NVQ 2 Technician for the right candidate. Candidates must have a clean driving licence and ideally be over 21 years old for insurance purposes, should also be hard-working and not afraid to get their hands dirty.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Working on site collecting samples and performing in-situ testing to obtain ground information for use in design of foundations for structures and assessment of ground contamination. Involved with sample handling storage and disposal, specialist ground drilling, breaking out ground, hand excavation of trial pits and undertaking in-situ testing, including:
- Window Sampling
- Dynamic Probing
- Plate Bearing Tests
- California Bearing Ratio tests (CBRs)
- Density Tests
- TRL Probe Testing
- Light Weight Deflectometer Testing
- Shear Vane Testing
This list is not exhaustive. Suitable training will be provided, and the candidate will be expected to take a leading role, get actively involved and become an integral part of the team.
