A Graduate Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer is required to join the geotechnical engineering division operating from the company’s Norwich office, to work on a range of site investigation projects across East Anglia, the south of England and further afield.

As a minimum, candidates should have a degree in a relevant subject, a full UK driving license, excellent communications skills (both written and verbal), organisational skills and a keen interest in learning new skills.

The role will involve a combination of site and office-based work, predominantly based around the planning, operation, management and interpretation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations. Graduate Engineers will be trained to undertake field tasks such as machine trial pit excavations, supervising borehole drilling, undertaking infiltration testing, ground gas monitoring, groundwater sampling, setting out with a GPS, and researching geological, hydrogeological, historical, topographical and environmental site information. You will also learn how geotechnical engineers provide foundation recommendations, advice on ground conditions, soil infiltration, advice for ground improvement and earthworks, undertaking stage one, two and three contamination assessments and remediation verification.

Harrison Group have an excellent opportunity for a principal geotechnical engineer looking for a new challenge with a successful ground investigation company, or for an aspiring experienced engineer looking to move into a position of management in a growing company.

An experienced geotechnical engineer is required to join the geotechnical engineering division operating from the company’s Cambridge office, to take a leading role. Working with an established department of engineers on a range of ground investigation projects across East Anglia, the East Midlands and further afield. The company provide specialist information on ground conditions for projects in a range of sectors (commercial and residential developments, healthcare, education, energy, infrastructure, highways, flood alleviation and community projects).
Candidates would typically have a masters degree in a relevant subject, at least ten years’ relevant experience in geotechnical site investigation and be competent in contaminated land assessment, hold a full UK driving license, have excellent skills communicating with colleagues and clients (both written and verbal), and experience as a line manager. Candidates should be a chartered geologist or working towards chartership, and be well-practiced with routine geotechnical assessments (e.g. providing foundation recommendations, advice on suitable ground improvement and earthworks methods, slope stability and settlement modelling).

The role will be mainly office based, but can include a mixture of client meetings, site supervision and networking. The role will include the specification, operation, management and interpretation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations, tendering for projects and frameworks, and working with the senior management team to continue the planned growth of the business. Geotechnical Site Technician/Assistant Driller

POSITION: GEOTECHNICAL SITE TECHNICIAN/ ASSISTANT DRILLER

An experienced (or trainee) Geotechnical Site Technician/Assistant Driller is required to join the Testing Services department in Norwich, to work on a range of ground investigation projects across East Anglia and further afield. Candidates as a minimum should have numeracy and literacy to GCSE level C or 4-5. In house training will be provided, with the potential opportunity to progress to an NVQ 2 Technician for the right candidate. Candidates must have a clean driving licence and be over twenty-one for insurance purposes, you should also be hard working and not afraid to get your hands dirty.

The job would mainly involve working on construction sites and agricultural fields collecting soil samples and testing ground conditions to allow our engineers to compile reports for clients. This would also involve sample handling storage and disposal, specialist ground drilling, breaking out pavements, hand-digging excavations and undertaking a range of in-situ testing.

Suitable training will be provided, and the candidate will be expected to get actively involved and be able to work both within the team and independently following a period of appropriate training.
