A Graduate Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer is required to join the geotechnical engineering division operating from the company’s Cambridge office, to work on a range of ground investigation projects across East Anglia, the south of England and further afield.

Candidates as a minimum should have a degree in a relevant subject, a full UK driving license, excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and a keen interest in learning new skills.

The role will involve a mixture of site and office based work, predominantly based around the specification, operation, management and interpretation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigation. Graduate Engineers will be trained to undertake field tasks such as machine trial pit excavations, supervising borehole drilling, undertaking infiltration testing, ground gas monitoring, groundwater sampling and researching geological, hydrogeological, historical, topographical and environmental site information. You will also learn how geotechnical engineers provide foundation recommendations, advice on ground conditions, soil infiltration, and undertake phase one and two contamination assessments.

A Trainee Laboratory Technician is required to join the Testing Services department in Norwich, to work in our UKAS Accredited Soils and Materials Laboratory. Candidates should be hard working, not afraid to get their hands dirty and as a minimum should have numeracy and literacy to GCSE level C or equivalent. In house training will be provided, with the potential opportunity to progress to an NVQ 2 as a Laboratory Technician for the right candidate.
The laboratory undertakes a range of testing on soil and construction materials and the chosen candidate will be expected to be involved in all tasks associated with the operation of the laboratory including:
• Sample handling, storage and disposal
• Examination and description of soils samples
• Preparation of test specimens
• Undertaking a range of physical tests on soils and construction materials
• Recording and processing of data
There may also be a requirement at times to undertake testing out on site and assist with other site based testing activities, for which suitable training would be provided. This list is not exhaustive and the candidate will be expected to get actively involved and become an integral part of the team.

We are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity for an internship in our geotechnical department in Norwich.

Candidates would be based in our Norwich office for up to one year (the commencement and duration can be flexible to suit your needs), to work on a range of site investigation projects across East Anglia and further afield. The role would be supervised by experienced engineers and include full training in all aspects you may be involved in.

The type of work would generally be a combination of geotechnical investigation and contaminated land assessment. In previous years students have enjoyed involvement in a mixture of site and office based work, including field tasks such as machine trial pit excavations, borehole drilling, infiltration testing, ground gas monitoring, groundwater sampling and undertaking research for geological, hydrogeological, historical and topographical site information. You will also learn how engineers provide advice on ground conditions, foundation recommendations, soil infiltration, undertaking phase one and two contamination assessments and validating remediation projects.

To be considered for the role of assistant geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineer candidates should be part way through an undergraduate or graduate degree (e.g. Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science or a related degree), have a full UK driving licence, excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and a keen interest in learning new skills.
